September 2015 Market Update!!

As we move into the fall season, I wanted to provide you with a brief market update. During the month of August, the average sale price of homes in the GTA were up 10% and since then the real estate market continues to be strong with no indication of cooling off. There is a lack of supply in the market as the number of new house listings is still not enough to meet the high demand of home buyers in the city. Two contributing factors for this include low interest rates and low oil prices.

TREB’s director of market analysis recently stated in a Toronto Star article (see link below for the full article), “a record year for home sales continued to unfold in August as competition between buyers exerted upward pressure on selling prices.”

If you, or anyone you know, is thinking of selling your home, this could be the optimal time! Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to further discuss the market or set up a time for me to provide you with a comparable market evaluation of your home.

When the season changes and the leaves begin to turn colours, we are reminded to complete regular home maintenance. Below is a link to a great checklist I found from “Better Homes and Gardens” to assist you in getting started:

Wishing you and yours a very happy September!!
